Great, great news for patients in California. However, this second story, from NORML is very spooky. Having the Feds start busting sick people. like myself, is a nightmare. Perhaps they should plan ahead and start equipping a prison that has accommodations for alter-abled people, like myself.
Oh and if I was arrested, this is one unconfortable chronically ill woman. If you want me to show up at hearings for my defense .....well if I am having an irritable bowel syndrome episode, (like today I used a whole roll of tp) it might be hard to understand my defense as I grimace and double over in pain. Oh,.... or (still hypothetically) was I to have to be without my medication while having a 3 day migraine... I suppose I could lay on a court room floor and close mye eyes and and deep breathe the pain away...oblivious to anything else. Sometimes that's my only choice. And it isn't hard to fathom that my permanently dislocated bones achey and sore from nail-patella syndrome....with osteoarthritis, and instead of being able to walk....I hobble. Of course excuse me if I fall asleep during any detainment for my crime of using cannabis as my medicine. The sleep disorder I have prevents me from getting deep sleep. So, I need to sleep a lot to make up on my ineffective slumber. Also, because of my genetics, I am lactose-intolerant and have osteopena, the beginnings of osteoperosis. I require vitamn D and lots of calcium daily (but remember, I am allergic to milk). A special diet would be needed for someone like me.

Leave us sick folks alone. Since we are the most incarcerated society in the world, and prisoners get access to healtch care, can the Federal government provide for the health care to prison medical mj patients? I don't think so. The people I know who legally medicate with herb are pretty sick with back problems, pain, cancer, in wheelchairs.........Anyway, I am trying to present a logic to my madness............. and really my belief system. Different approaches at personal health and well-being necessitates such compassion, while being conservative in educating our children to all the substances in our neighborhoods and their real risks. For young parents out there, the dilemna becomes once your kid is in public school, a child may be scrutinized publically for revealing parent's usage of any substance ( ya know...beer, wine, pot). That's why i believe so much in the education of children about drug use and open discussion. Kids do not need to be smoking or drinking to cope with life's ills.....that is hardly what many of us med mj users are saying. For someone who writes about this professionally and is our local "guru" visit Sandee Burbank at Mothers against Misuse and Abuse. Many young parents need to start thinking about what to say to their kids when they pop open a beer, sip the vino on Sunday afternoon, or load a "legal" bowl. MAMA is a great place to start that education process.
