My letter to CBS in response to the pulling of Reagan's miniseries

I find it very disturbing that your station would pull the miniseries about the Reagans from public viewing. It is frightening that a political party can influence a network and create a climate of censorship.

I plan on watching this program elsewhere.

Senate OKs ban on 'downed' animals
Nov. 5/03 AP By Jim Abrams
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Senate was cited as moving on Wednesday to ban the human consumption of "downed" animals, which are livestock too sick to stand or walk unassisted.

The Agriculture Department estimates that 130,000 such downed animals are slaughtered every year. Farmers usually sell their sick and injured animals to meat renderers who grind them up into pet food and animal feed.

But Akaka said that meat and meat products from downed livestock can still be used for human consumption if the animals pass the inspection process. His amendment would bar the Agriculture Department from spending money to approve downed animals for human consumption

Use of wheelchair in track races debated

A McNary senior with no legs won the Valley League cross country championship.

When Kacey McCallister wheeled across the finish line as the Valley League cross country champion, the moment wasn’t just the spectacular accomplishment of an athlete who lost his legs after being struck by a truck at age 6.

Here's an organization defending the rights of seriously ill people. They provide a link to new research that found smaller tumor growth in skin cancer cells while using cannabanoids. Very interesting.
