Creekstone Farms Premium Beef counters USDA BSE claims
Arkansas City, Kan.-based Creekstone Farms Premium Beef on Monday confirmed it has filed its reply to a USDA statement opposing Creekstone's bid to test its cattle for bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
Creekstone Farms is suing the USDA for refusing to allow it to test cattle for BSE and last summer asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to issue a summary judgement in its favor. USDA replied, and this filing is Creekstone's response, according to a Dow Jones report.
Creekstone said USDA now has until Dec. 1 to respond to the company's reply, after which the judge is scheduled to issue his decision on the motion for a summary judgement. Cattlenetwork.com
