Pharewell to Wheat

After a discussion about continuing health problems with my doctor yesterday, we have agreed it's time for Annie to get a blood test to see if I am allergic to wheat, or more specifically the gluten in wheat. After a life time of lasagna, bagels, and blackberry pancakes I am dedicating myself to feeling better. I am sick of getting headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, and acne. I am tired of feeling congested, fatigued and cranky. It's a bit early for new year's resolutions but life aint no dress rehearsal and despite not having the lab results back to verify I am allergic to gluten, I am 95% convinced that wheat is a toxin to my body.

So I bid some of my favorite foods goodbye. Goodbye chocolate chip cookies, Entenmanns crumb cake, and sesame seed bagels. Goodbye stuffed manicotti, baked ziti and spinach lasagna. Later, Subway sandwiches, mushroom and olive pizza, and grilled cheese. Farewell doughnuts, waffles, muffins, and carrot cake. You have caused me enough suffering and affected my ability to stay employed and productive. You have cost me a small fortune in allergy medicine. Take your toxic gluten and provide nourishment for someone else. From now on bread is my enemy, a destroyer of my well being, and a terrorist of my small intestine villi.
