APHIS to ramp up BSE testing
APHIS has announced that it will soon start a new testing regime for Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE). In the ongoing BSE surveillance program, the goal is now to obtain 40,000 samples per year. Of this total, APHIS estimates that from 15,000-18,000 will be collected from animals condemned on ante mortem inspection. LINK
