Suffering is universal, it's what we all have in common. 

But on a more scientific note.....radiation can reach our upper troposphere and contaminate areas beyond Japan.  Do not believe what the government tells you.  Scientists have found DDT and ts derivatives all the way up into the Northern parts of Alaska, accumulating in the adipose of the fish that the native Alaskans eat.  The EPA is monitoring radiation levels in Hawaii, Alaska and on the West coast of the US.  I certainly don't want to be an alarmist...just remember that we are relying on the same gov't agency that told us that the air was safe to breathe in NYC after 911
