Alter-Abled News

Earlier this year, the New York State Association of County Health Officials - as cautious a bunch as you will find in the medical community - urged New York lawmakers to pass legislation to legalize the medical use of marijuana. Read the whole commentary here in the NY Daily News.

I'm Free! I'm Not Lost!

Today, as I was getting my usual, double soy milk vanilla latte with cinnamon sprinkles, I noticed a book on the coffee bar with a yellow "stickie" note proclaiming it was not a lost book. It was a book left for anybody, a secret gift of good karma, a gift about sharing, being thrifty, a random act of kindness, to sound cliche. Inside the cover was a note explaing that this book was born to travel, and can be registered at Book Crossings. The book, Steve Martin, An Unauthorized Biography, had an ID number with which to register the book and see where it has been. Since, I am a readaholic, (my Mom punished me by taking away my books), I thought this would be a quick beach day read and be fun to track after I release it. This book was released in my hometown, so it still has many miles ahead of it. I liked some of the slogans at Book Crossings website; Free your Books, Generosity is addictive, Read and Release Me, Freed any Good Books Lately?

My last read was Bad Girls of the Bible.
