There's a Lesson in This Story...

Oregon senator wounded in gun accident

MEDFORD, Ore. -- An Oregon state senator has been hospitalized with an accidental gunshot wound in the knee.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports that Republican Jason Atkinson, 37, was hit while repairing a friend's bicycle Tuesday. KGW Link

What is Jason's position on gun control via Project Vote Smart:

2004 Based on lifetime voting records on gun issues and the results of a questionnaire sent to all state legislative candidates in 2004, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund assigned Senator Atkinson a grade of A+ (with grades ranging from a high of A+ to a low of F).

1999 Senator Atkinson supported the interests of the Oregonians Against Gun Violence 0 percent in 1999.

1998 Based on a questionnaire and the votes that National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund considered to be the most important in 1998, they have assigned Senator Atkinson a grade of A (with grades ranging from a high of A+ to a low of F-).

BlueOregon has the story with some interesting comments.

p.s. Best wishes for a full recovery, but his friend was reckless by carrying a derringer in his bike bag and not telling Jason.
